Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Inventory Control & Accuracy

  • Supervise inventory control activities to ensure accurate stock levels across all warehouse locations.
  • Oversee and validate cycle counts, physical stock audits, replenishment parameters, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Review and approve inventory adjustments in line with company policy and client requirements.
  • Investigate root causes of discrepancies including shortages, overages, damages, and system variances.

Team Supervision & Performance

  • Supervise inventory and stock control staff, including task allocation, prioritisation, and daily oversight.
  • Monitor performance against inventory accuracy and productivity targets.
  • Provide coaching, on-the-job guidance, and feedback to improve accuracy and process compliance.
  • Support onboarding and training of inventory staff.

Systems, Reporting & Data Integrity

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of inventory movements within WMS and ERP systems.
  • Review inventory reports, exception logs, and audit results for accuracy and completeness.
  • Track and report key inventory KPIs including accuracy rate, shrinkage, and stock variance trends.
  • Support inventory forecasting and planning activities by providing reliable inventory data.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with inbound, outbound, replenishment, procurement, and customer service teams to resolve inventory issues impacting fulfilment.
  • Support replenishment planning to ensure stock availability in pick locations.
  • Communicate inventory risks, constraints, or trends to Operations Management.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive and support initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, visibility, and process efficiency.
  • Contribute to implementation of system enhancements, automation, or new client requirements.
  • Promote best practices across inventory and warehouse operations.

General

  • Support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations during peak periods as required.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned.

  • Ability to use computers and handheld scanning equipment.
  • Ability to see, read, and interpret inventory data.
  • Ability to move through warehouse environments safely.
  • Ability to lift or move inventory items where operationally required

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proven experience in inventory control within a warehouse or contract logistics environment, preferably e-commerce.
  • Previous experience supervising inventory or operational teams.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and best practices.
  • Experience using WMS and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to investigate complex discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

EDUCATION AND DIRECT WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or business preferred.
  • Typically 3–5 years’ experience in inventory, warehouse, or supply chain operations.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

  • Inventory or supply chain certification (e.g. APICS CPIM) desirable.
  • Fork lift / MHE license desirable (site-dependent).
  • Full, clean driver’s license where operationally required.
