UTILITIES DIVISION - INVENTORY CONTROL SPECIALIST I

PG 11 - NON EXEMPT

$20.30HR -$29.44HR.

WORK LOCATION - 3642 OLD BARTOW EAGLE LAKE ROAD

The Utilities Division is responsible for public health and safety, as well as safeguarding the environment, by providing crucial safe water and wastewater services. This position is part of the team that provides services necessary for human health, economic stability, and overall societal well-being. At the core of the mission of providing these services includes commitment to providing excellent customer service to our citizens, business partners, regulatory agencies, and other county divisions.

MAJOR FUNCTION -Ensures the efficient and organized flow of goods within the warehouse, encompassing tasks like inventory management, shipping, and receiving and maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Also ensures goods are catalogued accurately, performs stock checks and maintains databases to keep track of inventory.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Inventory & Logistics
• Skilled management of parts, supply inventory, and operating equipment to all warehouses, currently growing number of satellite warehouses, and mobile warehouses.
• Maintains timely and accurate handling of all order requests, work orders, tracking of inventory in all warehouses in the computerized maintenance management system. Monitors and track all parts at all locations.
• Track the use of parts and adjust the min/max of parts in the computerized maintenance management system.
• Physically takes perpetual inventory counts, recounts and performs physical inventory requirements and reconciles discrepancies as directed at all warehouses including the mobile warehouses, which includes interaction with internal auditors at the yearly audit.
• Operates a variety of equipment, including pickup truck, forklift, pallet jack, and case forklift.
• Interacts and provide excellent service to our internal and external customers during merchandise pickup and delivery. Customers include vendors, staff members, and the general public.

Shipping & Receiving
• Receives supply request goods, materials, and supplies from field staff in computerized maintenance management system. Process request and update in system when items are ready for pickup.
• Responsible for loading/unloading and delivering of goods and materials as specified within a timely manner.
• Checks incoming materials against invoices, purchase orders, delivery forms verifying that goods, supplies and equipment being received are the quantity and quality indicated on forms prior to signing for receipt of the order.
• Prepares and ensures that requisition and receipt paperwork/invoices are recorded according to standard work unit procedures.
• Assists with re-order and/or new orders for stock and supplies using standard operating procedures and practices (i.e.: using min/max reports in computerized maintenance management system).
• Maintains an updated record keeping system of all warehouse inventory in the computerized maintenance management system.
• Maintains a clean and orderly warehouse of parts and supplies.
• Keeps stock in order using categorizing means and methods to ensure easy retrieval and location of stock and supplies that matches the information in the computerized maintenance management system.
• Responsible for packaging, labeling and arranging for goods to be shipped to vendor for repair/replacement.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
• Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and standard practices of the computerized maintenance management system.
• Ability to become familiar with computers, copiers, forklifts, delivery trucks, vans and other office equipment/machines which may be utilized.
• Ability to inspect quality and quantity of goods received as well as verifying that orders meet specifications according to purchase orders/requisitions.
• Ability to use independent judgment in applying and interpreting procedures and practices used within work unit's operations.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with peers, subordinates and with the public.
• Ability to read and understand parts lists, repair manuals and computer reports. Ability to make creative and innovative decisions to assure rapid service to internal and external customers.
• Experience should include customer service, telephone skills, and effective communication skills.

Required to have 40 hours of drive time on forklift before taking the test to receive your forklift operating certification. Must obtain certification within 3 months of employment.
• Ability to see, ambulate independently, drive and operate unassisted, vehicles, forklift, and pallet jack.
• Ability to lift and hold parts and components in excess of 50 lbs.
• The ability to sit, stoop, stand, and ambulate unassisted over uneven surfaces and varied terrain.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and lift items overhead with some manual work performed with raised arms and hands above the head for extended periods of time.
• Ability to perform mathematical tasks.
• Ability to research, investigate, experiment, detect, inspect, verify, recognize, and recommend solutions.
• Ability to think rationally, react calmly and responsively in stressful or emergency situations. Ability and agility to perform the various tasks in all weather conditions.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Graduate of accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma and have a minimum of two (2) years fiscal recordkeeping, warehousing, merchandising or related clerical experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment within this classification.
• Must have two (2) years Warehouse experience service experience. A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must perform after hour call-out in emergency and on rotational basis. This position is subject to call for emergencies.
• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule as needed.


All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its residents.
