Learn more about the office by visiting the ODJFS OEBS webpage.What You Will DoThe Inventory Control Specialist 2 in Business Services supports ODJFS’s mission by ensuring accurate, compliant, and well‑managed inventory processes across the agency. In this role, selected candidates help maintain statewide inventories, enforce inventory‑control procedures, and support the movement, tracking, and reconciliation of essential equipment, materials, and forms used throughout ODJFS. By managing inventory efficiently and safely, this position directly contributes to operational continuity and supports high‑quality services to Ohioans. Job Duties Include:Maintain extensive statewide inventory of agency computer hardware, peripherals, furniture, and other equipment.Implement and enforce agency procedures on inventory control, salvage, and surplus disposal.Use proprietary inventory software (IFMS) and ServiceNow to track inventory, reconcile receipts, and manage warehouse stock.Deliver, receive, and distribute ODJFS forms, pamphlets, envelopes, and brochures across statewide locations.Load and unload shipping vehicles and move stock within the warehouse using pallet jacks, forklifts, and related equipment.Inspect incoming shipments, review packing slips and purchase orders, and verify accuracy of all deliveries.Assign asset numbers, apply tags, and update inventory records for incoming computer hardware and peripherals.Remove obsolete or worn-out equipment from inventory following established procedures.Maintain daily warehouse shipping and receiving records, spreadsheets, and tracking documentation.Prepare and ship equipment and materials statewide using USPS and contracted vendors.Perform annual and random physical inventories to verify system accuracy (lifting up to 25–30 pounds).Serve as backup to other Inventory Control Specialists and support workflow management for online forms ordering systems.Carry out additional duties such as attending meetings, preparing reports, maintaining logs, and traveling as needed for deliveries or trainings.Preferred Skills:Proficiency in inventory control practices.Ability to operate personal computers and software.Skilled in operating warehouse equipment.Strong mathematical ability.Effective communication skills.Ability to define problems and collect data.Ability to lift 25–30 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. Schedule: Full time.Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. The candidate, at minimum, must have the following:Option 1:18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in inventory control; AND 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in electronic data processing related to inventory control; AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $23.68 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year.
