Inventory Control I - Columbus, NE

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy, availability, and optimization within a high-volume MRO warehouse. This role plays a critical part in managing spare parts, consumables, and maintenance materials, while also supporting vendor partnerships through Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and consignment programs.

Specific Job Duties

  • Interact professionally, effectively, and courteously with all individuals.
  • Analyze usage trends, lead times, and demand variability to improve stocking strategies.
  • Identify and manage excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory
  • Assists in assigning storage locations, and enters such information into the database.
  • Operates all material handling equipment such as scales, hand jacks, carts, forklifts and equipment used for measuring and counting.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, audits, and real-time system updates
  • Return unneeded parts to inventory, and update the database accordingly.
  • Maintain tools and records in vending equipment and data base.
  • Write Work orders for facility and warehouse equipment repairs.
  • Assist customers in identifying, locating, and obtaining needed parts by searching the inventory database or physically searching parts storage areas.
  • Checks quantities, identification and condition of materials received, and enter such information into our database.
  • Receives shipments of hazardous chemicals and places in appropriate storage locations. Maintains responsibility for the pick-up and documentation of empty chemical containers.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for incoming parts, materials, chemicals, and ingredients from common carriers, vendors, UPS, etc.
  • Unload trucks carrying items ranging from small parcels to pipe, motors, and large machinery.
  • Ensure that any Direct Issue items are marked appropriately, and that any inventoried items issued from Receiving are properly charged to a Work Order.
  • Ensure that motors and gear boxes get rotated.
  • Prepare Bills of Lading and other shipping documents using MSR’s, UPS, Excel, and other forms and software.
  • Deliver all chemicals, lab supplies, and other items as requested by process.
  • May perform reasonably similar or related duties needed to assist with task completion.
  • Assists in keeping all warehouse facilities in tour ready condition.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must successfully complete all ADM Safety Certification requirements.

Required Skills.

  • High level of motivation and results-oriented way of working.
  • Good regular and prompt attendance history
  • Excellent safety record and awareness
  • Previous plant/warehouse, inventory control, and forklift experience

Preferred Skills

  • Good organizational and communication skills, and must be self-motivated
  • Ability to work well with others and with little supervision
  • Ability to team build, train, and work on multiple tasks concurrently
  • Willingness to assume and learn new responsibilities
  • Housekeeping and sanitation skills (MSS)
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping skills

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
