Overview

The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate records of inventory. This position reports to the Inventory Control Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Performing daily and weekly cycle counts in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • Conduct inventory counts across warehouse locations and assists with investigating inventory discrepancies and variances.
  • Reconcile cycle counts counts against system records and process authorized inventory adjustments when required.
  • Open, perform, and complete cycle counts and related inventory transactions within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Analyze inventory discrepancies and assist in identifying trends and potential root causes of recurring inventory issues.
  • Participate in annual physical inventory and other scheduled inventory activities.
  • Hold and release inventory in accordance with client requests and established procedures.
  • Count and process in-house damaged inventory and ensured accurate system updates.
  • Monitor and verify product expiry dates as required.
  • Use computers, RF scanners, and other warehouse equipment to complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Safely operate Material Handling Equipment (for example forklift, order picker) in accordance with company policies and training requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new systems, technology, and operational processes.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work flexible shifts as required by operational and customer needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • Creates efficient and accurate inventory management procedures
  • Performs all daily activities necessary to maintain effective inventory management procedures
  • Reconciles inventories to book records and make adjustments when necessary
  • Coordinates the annual physical inventory procedures
  • Recommends programs to improve the management of inventory
  • Plans and implements a recoup program to ensure all damaged/defective product is accounted for and properly handled by either dumping, salvaging or returning to stock
  • Maintains records to accurately track recouped product and return saleable product to stock
  • Supervises the inventory quality and accuracy assurance programs, including weekly and monthly reporting
  • Conduct search to locate products within the system, as necessary
  • Adjust records when there are discrepancies between actual product and records
  • Ensures corrective measures to prevent discrepancies
  • Develops a program to audit returns and move returned product to its proper location
  • Processes documentation to generate a prompt credit transaction
  • Performs weekly cycle counts and adjusts systems as necessary
  • Develops a program to maintain tight security over the inventory
  • Maintains accurate inventory records to help facilities shortage detection
  • Maintains confidentiality of inventory records to authorized personnel
  • Develop all necessary reports and documentation to facilitate accurate inventory counts including records of all audits, counts and adjustments
  • Complete and issue all necessary records and reports including filing invoices and maintaining customer records in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Communicates and coordinates with customers regarding timing of physical inventories
  • Coordinates with Customer Service Representatives, Supervisors, and Warehouse Supervisors to establish cut-off dates
  • Performs duties as instructed by management

Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse experience and knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new systems, technology, and processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate inventory discrepancies and variances.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience operating, or willingness to learn to operate, Material Handling Equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with varying noise levels, lighting conditions, and temperatures.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, potentially 8 to 10 hours per day.
  • Comfortable working at heights and able to safely access all required areas of the facility.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to regularly bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above shoulder level.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, extended hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Performs duties as instructed by management
  • At least 1 year experience in similar position
  • Computer applications experience using MS Office
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation and able to access all areas of building without limitations.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Must have no issues with heights.
  • Lift and move totes up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
  • Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including weekends holidays as needed by the customer.

The base hourly pay rate for this posting is $22.00. The base hourly pay range is a guideline to provide our employees with market competitive pay, while allowing for flexibility to recognize and reward various levels of expertise, performance and tenure. The range listed is just one component of NFI's total compensation package for employees.
