The inventory clerk is responsible for managing the movement of goods in and out of the warehouse or distribution center. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of shipments and receipts, maintaining inventory records, and supporting overall logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Shipping Duties
a. Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to specifications.
b. Create shipping labels and documentation, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.
c. Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and ensure timely delivery.
2. Receiving Duties
a. Inspect incoming shipments for quality and accuracy against purchase orders.
b. Record and process received goods in the inventory management system.
c. Report discrepancies or damaged items to management and coordinate returns as necessary.
3. Inventory Management
a. Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including stock counts and locations.
b. Assist with regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure data integrity.
c. Organize and store received materials in designated areas.
4. Documentation and Reporting
a. Maintain shipping and receiving logs and documentation for tracking purposes.
b. Generate reports on shipping and receiving activities, including delays and discrepancies.
c. Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and filed appropriately.
5. Equipment Operation
a. Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently (if certified).
b. Maintain equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
6. Safety & Compliance
a. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines in all shipping and receiving activities.
b. Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations regarding shipping & receiving.
7. Customer Service
a. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquires relations to shipping and receiving processes.
b. Collaborate with other departments to resolve shipping and receiving issues promptly.
8. Continuous Improvement
a. Identify areas for process improvement in shipping and receiving operations.
b. Participate in training programs and safety meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
• 1-2 years of experience in shipping and receiving, warehouse, or logistics environment.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with shipping software and logistics management systems.
• Forklift certification (If applicable)
• Familiarity with shipping regulations and procedures.
Work Environment
• Typically works in a warehouse or distribution center environment. This role may require standing for long periods, lifting heavy items, and working in varying temperatures. Occasional overtime may be required to meet shipping deadlines or respond to peak periods.

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
