The mission of the DHHS Division of Services for the Blind (DSB) is to enable people who are blind and visually impaired in North Carolina to achieve their independent living and employment goals.

The primary purpose of the Business Enterprises Program (BEP) is to provide employment opportunities for legally blind individuals through the establishment of food service and vending facilities on government and private properties. These facilities are managed through agreements with the Division by trained and licensed blind entrepreneurs. The Business Enterprises Program administers the Randolph-Sheppard Act and applicable state statutes, which grant priority to blind vendors in the operation of retail facilities on government properties.

The primary responsibilities of this position include receiving, distributing, and storing Business Enterprises (BE) food service and vending equipment. As the warehouse manager, this position may assign duties to the warehouse assistant. All received equipment must be assigned an asset tag and entered into inventory. Equipment is distributed in accordance with ongoing projects or operational needs in the field and stored to ensure accessibility, accountability, and future use.

Additional responsibilities include identifying equipment for surplus and coordinating disposal on a monthly basis; scheduling delivery and setup of newly acquired equipment with vendors, including operator training when necessary; and arranging pickup of equipment that is broken, no longer needed, or no longer in use. The position responds to requests from BE Consultants when equipment requires replacement and maintains accurate records of all new equipment and supplies for performance evaluation and warranty follow-up.

Applicants must be able to operate a pallet jack, forklift, and other equipment used to move materials, and must have the ability to drive a 26-foot truck.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

· Demonstrated experience working in a warehouse environment.

· Experience in the vending and/or food service industry.

· Experience, through professional or lived involvement, working with or supporting

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to safely lift more than 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, squat, lift, bend, kneel, climb stairs, lay down as needed for the job.

Salary Range: 31,200.00 - 49,340.00
