Job Description

About The Role

We are looking for an energetic, well-organised and well-connected interviews co-ordinator who brims with ideas for great interviews and has the know-how, contacts and determination to pursue and deliver them.

The candidate will have the determination and tenacity required to secure subjects for some of the most high-profile articles the Telegraph publishes and will work with the Head of Interviews and desks across the newsroom to identify opportunities for both reactive news feature interviews, as well as standout celebrity interviews that are guaranteed to grab the readers’ attention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying fascinating interview subjects across a range of subjects, from showbiz to news and politics.
  • Securing interviews with those subjects through compelling interview bids for both quick turnarounds and, in the case of celebrities, long-term planning to secure essential exclusives
  • Liaising with the Head of Interviews and key commissioners on desks across the newsroom notably Culture and Lifestyle - to coordinate interview planning and publishing.

Key Skills

  • Essential: Highly organised and good at operating under pressure in a fast-moving, reactive environment.
  • Essential: Highly motivated and tenacious, fired by the competitive determination to beat our rivals and secure the best interviews.
  • Essential: An impressive contacts book and experience of liaising with PRs and celebrities both in Britain and America on behalf of news organisations
  • Essential: Expertise in writing interview bids and shaping long-term campaigns to secure interviews.
  • Essential: Outgoing, confident and a team player. Happy to forge relationships and work with desks across the newsroom
  • Desirable: Experience in securing social collaborations to help publicise exclusive interviews.
