Job Description

Interventionist PBIS T1- Ridgemont Elementary-(2600016S)

The Interventionist Positive Behavior Support will collaborate with campus and district leadership to support the implementation of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) that create and enhance positive school-wide and classroom culture, remove environmental and behavioral barriers to learning, and promote equity for all students. The incumbent will provide targeted Tier II, and intensive behavioral supports to identified students through social skill groups and behavior tutoring, collect and analyze data from groups, and participate in the PBIS team data-based decision making process to support continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • Provide immediate intervention for students experiencing behavioral difficulties causing an interruption to the educational environment
  • Utilize PBIS and Restorative Practice strategies to support and monitor students assigned to In School Suspension
  • Assist with classroom management at the discretion of the administration, eg., monitoring of student behavior, encouraging students to work independently, ensure student understanding and follow established classroom/school rules of acceptable behavior
Progress Monitoring
  • Collect and monitor behavioral data on assigned students
  • Assist with the development of crisis plans, behavior contracts, and other targeted Tier II supports for students identified through the SST process
Staff Development
  • Provide targeted staff development regarding PBIS and behavioral intervention
  • Attend PBIS, Restorative Discipline, and other behavioral trainings as appropriate

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • De-Escalation/Restraint Certification CPI trained within 30 days of employment
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with students with behavioral challenges
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents required
  • Knowledge of, and ability to implement, de-escalation techniques and behavioral management strategies
  • Ability to handle emotionally charged situations
  • Ability to monitor and observe student behavior according to district and campus procedures
  • Ability to collect and analyze behavioral data

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

  • This position is grant funded by Title 1 funds. This position may be discontinued if funds are no longer available.
