As an Interventional Vascular Technologist, you will provide technicalassistancein performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Some of your responsibilities will includeacquiringimages, processingimagesand providingemergency oncallassistance
A PRN caregiver in this position works 7:30am—6:00pm or 12:00pm—10:30pm. Rotates Saturday or Sunday weekend shift
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Utilize sterile or aseptictechniquesto scrub in and perform vascular,interventionaland surgical procedures per protocol.
Educate patientsregardingprocedures,equipmentand exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast druginteractionsand major effects.
Set-up oroperateinjectorto administer contrast agents for procedures and manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector isutilized
Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures.
Check and preparepatientsprior toVascular-Interventionalstudy.
Screen patients for ability to undergoprocedureby understanding baseline lab requirements.
Positionpatients to obtain radiographic exposure.
Acquire, archive,transmitandprintimages via PACS.
Completeafter-hourstransmission of images andappropriate paperwork
Report malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
Process billing via RIS.
Record andmaintainprocedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopictimeand procedural information.
Monitor equipmentandsystems, cleanequipmentand effecttimelyrepair.
Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited school ofRadiologicTechnology
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistsR.T.(R) (ARRT)and in good standing
Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy
Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams
Knowledge of sterile technique with the ability to create andmaintaina sterileenvironment
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist
Certification inCardiovascular-InterventionalRadiographyR.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT)orVascular-InterventionalRadiologyR.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT)
Physical Requirements:
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
