  • The Interventional Radiology Tech is responsible for assisting physicians with the performance of invasive radiologic procedures on patients who are extremely ill or injured.

Location:

  • Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is located in Baltimore, MD.

Schedule:

  • 7:00 am - 3:00 pm; on-call at least 7 days out of the month, which will include weekends

Responsibilities

  • Consistently operates radiographic equipment and imaging systems as demonstrated by ability to perform required procedures.
  • Proficiently operates all ancillary equipment as outlined in the developmental resume tool.
  • Effectively and efficiently operates all emergency equipment such as defibrillator as demonstrated by participating in emergency events.
  • Delivers minimal dose levels to the patient while still achieving diagnostic images. Consistently ensures physicians practice radiation safety and comprehends dose level parameters.
  • Anticipates panning requirements, prior to physician’s requests. Collimates/filters in appropriate situations. Requires minimal input or direction from physicians.
  • Ensures all staff in procedure room is properly protected and are educated in ionizing radiation standards. Provides instructions/suggestions related to methods of reducing team members’ radiation exposure levels.
  • Ensures acquired films are formatted according to IRC/INR guidelines.
  • Reviews formatted films to ensure image quality after each procedure.
  • Takes appropriate action to rectify poor film quality. Seeks assistance to improve image quality or formatting skills when necessary.
  • Competent to operate the hemodynamic monitoring systems where applicable.
  • Complies with IRC/INR guidelines to ensure accurate input of information into database systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma with a two year technical college, an Associate Degree.
  • ARRT certified with current registration required.
  • Radiography license by the Maryland Board of Physicians required.
  • BLS CPR certification required.
  • EPIC experience
  • At least one experience in Radiologic/Interventional procedures.
