The Interventional Radiology Clinical Instructor provides clinical instruction for Radiologic Technologist in Interventional Radiology techniques/procedures as well as Radiology students. The Interventional Radiology Clinical Instructor works closely with physician and department leadership to ensure high quality services are provided. Interventional Radiology Clinical Instructor abides by and ensures compliance with various regulatory and accrediting bodies including JCAHO and JRCERT.

Essential Functions:

  • Trains and monitors performance of new radiologic technologists in the Interventional area.
  • Conducts and coordinates new employee orientation to the Interventional Radiology department.
  • Ensures new personnel are properly trained/oriented and competent in IR protocols according to hospital and department procedures by developing and completing competency checklists sheets.
  • Disseminates educational and administrative information to staff.
  • Achieves excellence through teamwork by enhancing communications between staff and physician/department leadership
  • In conjunction with dept. leadership, assesses the need for equipment and assists with installation and training.
  • Develops and maintains quality assurance and improvement programs to obtain and maintain credentialing/ accrediting bodies (i.e. ACR, JCAHO)
  • Develops and maintains a working relationship with IR section chiefs to ensure protocols are up to date and necessary supplies are on hand for each case.
  • Assists in department performance improvement activities as needed.
  • Communicates effectively to Supervisor regarding needs of the section.
  • Provides orientation to new employees in Interventional Radiology.
  • Assesses competency of staff by timely completion of orientation and competency checklists.
  • Takes an active role in gaining or maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities.
  • Displays a positive image of the department and hospital.

Additional Job Description:

Education / Accreditation / Licensure:

  • GRADUATE OF A JRCERT APPROVED RAD TECH PROGRAM.
  • ARRT (R ) (VI) REGISTERED, KY RADIATION OPERATORS LICENSE
  • BLS.

Experience:

  • PREFER 3 YEARS VASCULAR EXPERIENCE AND ONE YEAR SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE.
