The Gerson School is an alternative placement for students whose emotional, social and behavioral struggles have impacted their ability to succeed in a public setting. We offer a unique educational environment focused on ensuring the success of our students. Individual learning plans enable each student to reach his or her maximum potential in a supportive setting. At Gerson, we believe in every student and are committed to providing the necessary tools and support in order for each student to excel and grow. Through our holistic approach to learning in a diverse environment, Gerson students can learn to finish what they start, overcome obstacles, demonstrate tenacity, develop and practice integrity, and develop empathy.
Plan, teach and evaluate student learning in a special education setting. Differentiate curriculum for all students. Help students learn to manage emotions and behavior within the classroom. Work closely with all members of the school team to deliver intervention, lessons and activities. Maintain case load of up to 12 students. Provide services as indicated in students’ Individual Educational Plan. Maintain direct contact with students, parents/guardians, mental health professionals and home school district representatives. Responsible for detailed student records in compliance with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce standards. The Intervention Specialist is supervised by the School Principal.

Applewood Centers, Inc. Dedicated to addressing a variety of behavioral, emotional and learning problems, we provide a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment.
