Team
At ING, we believe it’s your ideas, not your age that matter. As part of our team, you’ll work in a dynamic, international environment where you learn at a fast pace and be hands-on from the start.
Cybersecurity is of the highest priority. A critical component of this is effective vulnerability management; ensuring that security vulnerabilities are identified, prioritized, and mitigated in a timely and coordinated manner across teams.
But where does the vulnerability management process break down in practice? In this internship, you will contribute to answering this question through an empirical research project focused on ING’s vulnerability management process.
Role and responsibilities
Mapping ING’s formal vulnerability management process together with domain experts
Analysing a provided sample of vulnerability data to identify patterns and inform research focus
Investigating bottlenecks in patching and remediation processes, cross-team coordination challenges, and knowledge gaps and process deviations
Comparing documented process vs. actual practice
Developing actionable recommendations to improve patching adherence, process efficiency, and cross-team collaboration
How to succeed
To take on this challenging and rewarding opportunity, you’ll need:
Master or Bachelor (final-year) student in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including interest in qualitative research methods
