YOUR TEAM

Our team is looking for motivated support in the automated verification and validation of vehicle electronic control units within the overall vehicle network. This internship focuses on a new generation Connectivity Control Unit that is currently under development and represents a key element of future connected vehicles. The control unit connects the vehicle to its environment and enables numerous customer-facing and safety-relevant functions.

We are part of a central project management organization responsible for coordinating and safeguarding multiple networked ECUs across the Volkswagen Group. In this role, you will contribute hands-on to an existing end-to-end test automation environment used to validate high-level customer functions, track functional maturity, and perform regression testing throughout the development process.

A key aspect of the internship is the further evolution of test automation by integrating AI-based components. Due to the large and continuously changing function portfolio, automated and adaptive test case generation is required to ensure efficient and scalable test coverage. This position offers practical insight into automotive software development, test automation, connectivity systems, and the application of artificial intelligence in a real-world development environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Analyze existing test automation environments to identify opportunities for AI driven enhancements
  • Leverage the latest AI developments and your own expertise to refine and optimize test automation frameworks, workflows, and tooling
  • Validate your development artifacts on hardware-in-the-loop test systems that form the test environment for networked Control Units in a simulated environment
  • Analyze the current development status of the new Connectivity Control Unit, including its development environment and test framework
  • Coordinate development activities with the testing efforts of the development departments and define an appropriate test strategy
  • Translate the acquired insights into automated test cases and integrate them into the existing test automation framework

WHO YOU ARE

  • Enrolled student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with hands on experience using machine learning frameworks and working with LLMs or deep learning models
  • Familiarity with AI tooling and libraries for agent based or autonomous workflow development
  • Enjoys structured work within processes and ticket systems, with a precise, reliable, and detail oriented work style
  • Strong communication skills in both German and English
  • A proactive team player with a willingness to learn and a pragmatic approach to driving improvements

NICE TO KNOW

  • Remote work options within Germany
  • Internship/Thesis:
    • Duration: 3 - 6 months
    • 35 hours/week
    • Salary: 13,90 €/hour
  • Working Student:
    • Duration: 6 months (with the option to extend up to two years)
    • 20 hours/week, up to 35 hours/week during the semester break
    • Salary: 17,80 €/hour
