Mental health, vitality, and sustainable employability are becoming increasingly important topics within modern organizations. Employees face growing workloads, constant change, and higher expectations, which can lead to stress, reduced energy levels, and long-term absenteeism. This issue often arises due to a combination of organizational pressure, unclear priorities, and limited awareness of early stress signals.
The impact is significant: decreased productivity, lower engagement, and an increased risk of burnout. Organizations therefore need effective, evidence-based approaches to support employee wellbeing and create a healthy work environment. In this assignment, you will research how Health & Wellbeing initiatives can help prevent psychosocial workload issues and support sustainable performance. The central research question
may be formulated as:
How can organizations strengthen employee vitality and prevent work-related stress through targeted Health & Wellbeing policies and interventions?
You will join the Health & Wellbeing department, which focuses on improving physical, mental, and social wellbeing within the organization. The department works closely with HR, managers, and external partners to develop policies, programs, and interventions related to vitality, psychosocial workload, leadership, and sustainable employability.
Projects range from research and data analysis to developing practical tools for managers and employees. You will work in a professional, yet informal environment, where collaboration and knowledge-sharing are key. Students are actively involved in projects and regularly work together with colleagues from different departments.
Conduct literature and desk research on Health & Wellbeing and psychosocial workload
Analyze internal data, policies, or survey results
Support the development of tools, guidelines, or presentations

The company focuses on the optimisation of its customers’ business processes and competitive positions. Through close cooperation, it strives for the improvement of their operational activities and the expansion of their logistical achievements.
Established in 1949, Vanderlande has more than 11,000 employees and a turnover of 2.3 billion euros.
Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) acquired Vanderlande in 2017 to cement its global leading position within material handling. It aims to achieve this by increasing its presence in all integrated and automated projects, and capitalising on the synergies between the organisations and the added value they offer to the market.
TICO therefore launched the Toyota Automated Logistics Group (TALG), which consists of Toyota L&F, Bastian Solutions, Vanderlande and viastore. TALG is a global partner for integrated logistic process automation, with its group companies collaborating under the guiding principle: for every challenge, a reliable solution.
In May 2025, Vanderlande completed the acquisition of Siemens Logistics' operations outside the USA and in doing so welcomed more than 2,000 new employees. The acquisition supports the company’s strategic ambition to accelerate its growth in automated logistics, particularly strengthening its capacity to deliver baggage, cargo and digital airport solutions.
