Job Description

The Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology Fraunhofer UMSICHT develops process engineering solutions in the field of carbon conversion (next-generation biofuels, recycling technologies for plastics and composite materials, biochar), low-emission combustion systems as well as the provision and storage of process heat It also has expertise in waste and resource strategies and life cycle assessment (LCA). With a focus on process engineering and plant construction, it supports clients from the project idea through pilot plants and demonstrators to market launch.

The Thermochemical Processes group conducts research on various conversion processes (e.g., pyrolysis, gasification) for the treatment of biogenic residues and waste materials and operates a range of laboratory and pilot-scale facilities specifically for this purpose. The goal is the material and/or energy recovery of the conversion products, such as biochar, synthesis gases, or pyrolysis oils.

What you contribute

must have:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, environmental engineering, energy engineering, renewable energy, or a related field
  • Very good/good written and spoken German (B2 level) and/or English (C1 level)
  • Ability to work independently, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

nice have:

  • Technical vocational training or experience working with tools
  • Class B driver's license (EU)

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
