The assignment focuses on supporting the development and maintenance of modern data pipelines that enable the Digital Service Platform to deliver high‑quality, real‑time data solutions to airports. Airports generate large amounts of operational data, and transforming these raw datasets into reliable, actionable insights requires structured data processing, monitoring, and visualization. The challenge arises from the need to efficiently ingest, clean, and process data from various sources while ensuring accuracy, scalability, and consistency across the platform. The intern will explore how cloud technologies (particularly Microsoft Azure and Azure Databricks) can be leveraged to improve data quality and pipeline performance. The key research question is how to optimize data preparation and monitoring workflows so they better support dashboards, reporting, and operational decision‑making.
The Digital Service Platform department develops and operates datadriven services for airports, helping them improve efficiency, safety, and operational visibility through advanced analytics. The department builds cloudbased data pipelines, monitoring solutions, and dashboards that process airport data in real time. It is positioned within the organization as a central provider of digital capabilities and works closely with other technical and operational teams. The intern will work in an agile environment or as a self-study collaborating with colleagues.

It aims to achieve this by increasing its presence in all integrated and automated projects, and capitalising on the synergies between the organisations and the added value they offer to the market.
TICO therefore launched the Toyota Automated Logistics Group (TALG), which consists of Toyota L&F, Bastian Solutions, Vanderlande and viastore. TALG is a global partner for integrated logistic process automation, with its group companies collaborating under the guiding principle: for every challenge, a reliable solution.
In May 2025, Vanderlande completed the acquisition of Siemens Logistics' operations outside the USA and in doing so welcomed more than 2,000 new employees. The acquisition supports the company’s strategic ambition to accelerate its growth in automated logistics, particularly strengthening its capacity to deliver baggage, cargo and digital airport solutions.
