The Control Room Operations team at RWE Renewables is responsible for the real-time monitoring and operation of our renewable energy assets across Spain. The team ensures the safe and efficient operation of wind and solar plants by coordinating operational activities, monitoring plant performance, managing incidents, supporting grid compliance, and working closely with internal stakeholders to maximize asset availability and performance.


About the role

As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operation of a renewable energy Control Centre. You will work alongside experienced operators, learning how utility-scale wind and solar assets are monitored and managed in real time. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring wind and solar assets through SCADA and Control Room applications
  • Collecting, analysing and reporting operational and performance data using key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Supporting the Operations team with turbine performance analysis and operational reporting
  • Assisting in the management of alarms, incidents, work orders and operational events
  • Collaborating with Control Room operators and cross-functional teams to support daily operations
  • Developing and improving reporting tools.
  • Participating in continuous improvement and digitalisation initiatives within the Control Room

Job requirements and experience


We're looking for a proactive, analytical and curious student who enjoys working with data, technology and operational processes.
The role requires:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Energy, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics or a related field
  • Eligible to sign a university internship agreement (curricular or extracurricular internship) with the company
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of Excel, Power BI and SQL (knowledge of MATLAB or programming is a plus)
  • Interest in renewable energy, SCADA systems and Control Centre operations
  • Fluency in Spanish and a good level of English
