The International Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the quotation, coordination of air, truck, and ocean shipping, as well as preparation and retention of compliant export documentation for international irrigation orders. The incumbent works with our internal Compliance Department to help confirm regulations of the Bureau of Industry and Security (under the U.S. Department of Commerce) and the Census Bureau’s foreign trade regulations. The incumbent works with Letters of Credit following the UCP 600 Rules and Incoterms 2010, product classification, ethical best practices, and country-specific import regulations. The main functions of this role are providing on time shipments, negotiated freight rates, routing alternatives, and accurate export documentation which directly impacts Valmont’s receivables and customer satisfaction. To complete these tasks, the incumbent must work closely with multiple parties all the way from the beginning of a sale, through the order entry process, to the final delivery of the goods to the customer. In the international marketplace government policies, rules, and regulations are ever-changing. The ability to understand, adapt, and adjust to these policies are crucial to the operations of international business. The International Transportation Coordinator’s functions are essential as they mitigate two sources of potential risk for the company: compliance risk and credit risk.
