GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights and life support while on duty.

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

Company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address.

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address. The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or such other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodations at the project.

Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), copy will be provided upon acceptance.

Role Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills within international and high-risk operational environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of security operations, Close Protection principles, and risk management practices.
  • Ability to operate effectively in crisis, conflict, and austere environments.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems, radio communications, satellite phones, and GPS equipment.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor operational plans, procedures, and contingency measures.
  • Strong organisational, reporting, and administrative skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and personal resilience.
  • Physically capable of performing all duties associated with the role

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years' professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a management position within an international operational environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience conducting or managing Close Protection-related activities.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing personnel, including large teams.
  • Demonstrable experience working in crisis, conflict, or high-risk operational environments.
  • Valid Category C driving licence.
  • English language proficiency to a minimum of CEFR Level C1.
  • Successful completion of a minimum three-year university degree (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) in Security and Defence, Intelligence Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, or a related field; and/or recognised military or police training and qualifications.
  • Ability to reside on-site and remain available to support operational requirements as directed. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-stress, high-risk environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience supporting international organisations, government entities, diplomatic missions, or multinational operations.
  • Advanced qualifications or certifications in security management, intelligence, risk management, crisis management, or leadership.
  • Experience managing security contracts in remote, austere, or developing environments.
  • Experience working with multinational teams and stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Additional language skills relevant to the operational environment.
  • Previous military, police, or government security service experience at a supervisory or managerial level.

Services

Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to, the provision of security leadership, operational management, and liaison support to ensure the effective delivery of contracted security services.

The International Security Manager shall:

• Direct, supervise, and manage all contracted security personnel and activities.

• Serve as the primary liaison between the Contractor and the Project Manager, ensuring timely communication and implementation of operational directives.

• Maintain continuous availability to receive, assess, and implement instructions from the Project Manager.

• Provide leadership, oversight, and accountability for all security operations conducted under the contract.

• Develop, implement, and monitor security procedures, operational plans, and contingency measures.

• Coordinate personnel deployment, tasking, welfare, performance management, and operational readiness.

• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, local regulations, client policies, and applicable security standards.

• Conduct security assessments and provide advice regarding threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation measures.

• Oversee incident reporting, investigations, operational reporting, and lessons-learned processes.

• Maintain effective communication systems and ensure personnel are proficient in the use of radios, satellite communications, and other operational equipment.

• Liaise with host nation authorities, security partners, contractors, and other stakeholders as required.

• Support crisis response activities, emergency management procedures, and business continuity requirements.

• Monitor operational performance and provide regular updates, reports, and recommendations.

• Ensure all personnel maintain appropriate professional standards, discipline, and conduct.

• Undertake any other direction or reasonable request by GardaWorld management in accordance with contractual requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, and company policies.

This position is critical to maintaining the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of security operations, directly contributing to mission success, personnel safety, operational resilience, and stakeholder confidence in complex and high-risk environments.
