Job Role
The International Logistics Director is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the company's logistics operations and business development activities in Vietnam. This role combines commercial leadership, operational management, financial oversight, and strategic market development.
The position will serve as the key business leader for the Vietnam market, responsible for identifying new market opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, managing customer and supplier relationships, and implementing the company's international logistics strategy.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of transportation, warehousing, bonded logistics, international sea and air freight, and supply chain finance, combined with the ability to manage local operations, financial performance, and regulatory risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the company's overall logistics operations and business activities in Vietnam.
- Develop and execute Vietnam's market expansion and international logistics strategy.
- Identify new business opportunities, develop customer relationships, and establish strategic partnerships with local companies and logistics stakeholders.
- Develop diversified business cooperation models across transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, bonded logistics, and supply chain services.
- Manage relationships with Vietnamese customers, suppliers, partners, and other key stakeholders while maintaining a strong corporate reputation.
- Develop annual business plans, budgets, cost-control strategies, and operational targets for the Vietnam market.
- Oversee financial performance, project profitability, ROI analysis, and operational efficiency to ensure sustainable business growth.
- Establish and maintain effective risk management frameworks, internal controls, and approval processes for Vietnam operations.
- Monitor Vietnamese logistics regulations, industry policies, bonded-zone requirements, and other regulatory developments affecting business operations.
- Lead and develop the local logistics organization while integrating resources across commercial, operational, and support functions.
- Coordinate closely with HQ and international stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of corporate strategies in Vietnam.
- Manage operational challenges and emergency situations while ensuring business continuity and service quality.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or above in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 6–8 years of progressive experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, or related industries, including experience at a managerial or director level.
- Strong experience managing international transportation, warehousing, bonded logistics, sea and air freight, and supply chain operations.
- Experience in developing new markets, expanding business channels, and managing key customers and suppliers in Vietnam or Southeast Asia.
- Strong understanding of Vietnam's logistics industry, local regulations, bonded-zone operations, international trade, and related compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in budgeting, cost control, financial analysis, profitability management, and operational performance improvement.
- Strong risk management capabilities with the ability to establish effective controls and approval processes.
- Experience managing and developing a sizable operational team, preferably 10–50 employees.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation, communication, coordination, and resource-integration capabilities.
- High level of responsibility, strong execution skills, adaptability, and ability to handle complex operational situations and emergencies.
- Professional fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin), both written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel and undertake overseas assignments as required.
