About This Role
This position is for an experienced professional in Materials & Logistics, who works independently, monitors distribution of materials, develops standard operating procedures, evaluates inventory costs and sets service rates. Collaborates with internal and external parties, confers with department heads regarding warehouse activities, and responds to customers inquiries.
Procures inbound carrier capacity for all domestic and cross border modes including drayage, ocean, expedited, and all accessorial.
Works with the LLP to negotiate service contracts and service level agreements with carriers.
Manages all core KPI’s for international inbound operations.
Effectively communicate both internally and externally the metric reports, status changes and improvement opportunities.
Provides information, offers solutions, and coordinates initiatives for international and inbound transportation and logistics cost reduction opportunities.
Performs ongoing comparison of logistic models and costs, reviewing that best routing options are being utilized based on ocean and rail networks, and warehouse locations. Analyzes ongoing freight cost and routing optimization.
Assures market readiness by analyzing current need, growth, and vendor capability to determine service provider base and meet the current and future needs of the business supported.
Manages partnership with all transporters, including Steamship lines, NVOCCs (Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carrier), and freight forwarders.
Develops strategies to improve inbound flow efficiencies and operational effectiveness
Develops expedited delivery options including direct-to-distributor programs.
Manages transportation volume forecasting, carrier score carding, and operational reporting.
Provides rate discrepancy support for freight billing as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation or Logistics
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
Knowledge of transportation methodology and practices
Experience with international freight procedures, understanding of maritime global logistics terminology, operations, and trade compliance
Ability to multi-task and prioritize among a wide range of responsibilities
