A well-established, global organisation in the international medical assistance and travel insurance sector is seeking German-speaking professionals to join its Cape Town-based operations team. The business forms part of a globally recognised group supporting leading European insurers and travellers worldwide.
The Cape Town office operates within a fast-paced, international environment, collaborating with global teams and service providers to deliver critical assistance services to policyholders across the globe.
As an International Assistance Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting travellers during medical or travel-related emergencies. This position requires strong communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills to manage complex, time-sensitive situations.
You will act as the central point of contact between policyholders, medical professionals, service providers, and international teams, ensuring seamless coordination and high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inbound and outbound communication (telephonic and email) with policyholders, medical providers, and global stakeholders
- Coordinate local and international logistics to support travellers in medical or emergency situations
- Liaise with hospitals, doctors, ambulance services, and travel partners to facilitate required assistance
- Work closely with internal medical teams and international colleagues to ensure appropriate care and solutions
- Assess and analyse each case to provide effective, timely resolutions
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with company and regulatory standards
Requirements
- Fluency in German (C1/Native level) and English (C1/Native level) is essential
- Strong ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and open to continuous learning and training
- Previous experience in medical assistance, insurance, claims handling, or travel/tourism is advantageous
- Minimum Matric (Grade 12) qualification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends, evenings, and night shifts
- Valid South African work authorisation (visa secured, if applicable)
- FSB registration is advantageous
