Job Description
We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
What you'll build
You will be a key contributor to shaping the strategic direction of SAP Industry AI — researching, synthesising, and translating complex market, customer, and technology developments into compelling strategy documents and actionable recommendations. You will serve as a trusted strategic advisor to internal stakeholders and initiatives: bringing analytical depth, clear structure, and sharp communication to the questions that matter most for how Industry AI evolves. In a fast-moving environment, you will be expected to turn ambiguity into clarity, complex findings into crisp narratives, and strategic intent into materials that inform and align decision-makers across the organisation and beyond. Your main responsibilities include to:
- Track and synthesise Industry AI strategy inputs — continuously monitor market, customer, and technology developments; distil findings into structured strategic insights that keep the Industry AI strategy current, differentiated, and well-grounded in external reality
- Produce high-quality strategy documents for internal and external use — translate strategic analysis into compelling, audience-appropriate materials including executive briefings, position papers, portfolio narratives, and thought leadership content
- Advise on portfolio governance across Industry Domains — provide analytical support and strategic counsel on prioritisation, pace of expansion, and investment decisions; develop frameworks that bring structure and rigour to portfolio-level choices
- Consult on the transformation of existing Industry Solutions into the Industry AI model — support the portfolio, structural, and delivery transition by providing strategic clarity, documenting the transformation rationale, and advising stakeholders navigating the shift
- Support Build/Buy/Partner strategy — research and analyse strategic options across build, buy, and partner dimensions; prepare structured assessments and recommendations that inform decisions with PES and Corporate Development
- Provide strategic input to government and regulatory initiatives — contribute analytical and narrative support to government-related programs relevant to Industry AI; help shape how SAP positions and communicates its role in these initiatives
- Represent Industry AI strategy externally — act as a credible voice for SAP's Industry AI direction in customer conversations, industry forums, analyst engagements, and partner discussions; leverage existing industry knowledge and network to enrich strategic positioning and open relevant doors
- Act as a strategic sparring partner — advise cross-functional stakeholders and strategic initiatives across Product, GTM, and Corporate Strategy; bring an outside-in perspective and structured thinking to complex strategic questions
What you bring
-
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills — ability to synthesise large amounts of information into clear, well-structured insights and recommendations
- Excellent written communication — proven ability to produce high-quality strategy documents, executive narratives, and thought leadership materials for diverse internal and external audiences
- Deep knowledge of one or several major industries — hands-on experience or strong familiarity with the dynamics, challenges, and transformation agendas of industries such as Manufacturing, Retail, Energy, Financial Services, or similar; able to ground strategic analysis in real industry context
- Established industry network — active relationships with relevant stakeholders across one or more industries including customers, partners, analysts, or academic institutions; able to leverage this network to enrich strategic thinking and strengthen SAP's external positioning
- Ability to represent strategy externally and internally — confident and credible in presenting strategic positions to senior audiences; able to serve as a visible spokesperson for Industry AI strategy in customer conversations, industry forums, and executive settings
- Background in corporate strategy, management consulting, or a strategy-focused role in enterprise software or technology
-
Collaborative and credible as an advisor — comfortable engaging and consulting senior stakeholders across functions without formal authority
-
University degree, ideally in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of professional experience, with a strong focus on strategy, analysis, or advisory roles in enterprise software, management consulting, or a technology-driven environment
-
Fluent English language skills, both written and spoken; German language skills are beneficial
- Intellectually curious, structured, and able to operate across a broad and fast-moving strategic agenda
Beneficial
-
Familiarity with large software portfolio dynamics and the challenges of transitioning legacy products to next-generation models
- Understanding of build/buy/partner frameworks and corporate development processes
-
Knowledge of government funding mechanisms or public-private initiatives
-
