Internal Medicine Physician – Primary Care/Outpatient Only
The Internal Medicine Physician provides comprehensive primary care services to adult patients, focusing on preventive care, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic medical conditions, and long-term continuity of care. This role emphasizes evidence-based medicine, care coordination, and patient-centered outcomes in an ambulatory primary care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient primary care to adult and geriatric patients
- Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and routine health assessments
- Diagnose and manage acute illnesses and complex chronic medical conditions
- Deliver preventive care services, including screenings, immunizations, and wellness visits
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Order, interpret, and document laboratory and diagnostic test results
- Manage medication regimens and chronic disease follow-up
- Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice
- Coordinate care with specialists, hospitals, and ancillary services
- Educate patients on disease prevention, lifestyle modification, and self-management
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record
- Participate in quality improvement, population health, and patient safety initiatives
Practice Setting
- Outpatient internal medicine or primary care clinic
- Minimal or no inpatient responsibilities depending on practice model
- Scheduled clinic hours with limited after-hours call as applicable
Patient Population
- Adult and geriatric patients
- Broad range of preventive, acute, and chronic medical conditions
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
- Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state
- DEA registration or eligibility
