Internal Communications Manager

The Internal Communications Manager develops and executes EEI's internal communications strategy, keeping team members informed, connected, aligned, and engaged with organizational priorities. This role partners with executive leadership, People Services, Operations, and functional teams to deliver clear, consistent communications that support change initiatives and reinforce EEI's mission, values, and ownership culture.

Salary Range: $106,000 - $133,000 / year

The above salary range is based on the Denver labor market and subject to change based on location. This position is open to local, in-office or remote candidates in the Denver-Metro area who can attend occasional in-person meetings and events.


Essential Responsibilities:

Organizational Communications & Alignment

  • Develop and execute EEI's enterprise-wide internal communications strategy.
  • Translate company priorities, business performance, organizational initiatives, and strategic goals into clear, meaningful, team member-focused communications.
  • Reinforce EEI's mission, vision, values, culture, and employee ownership philosophy through consistent messaging that supports alignment across departments, functions, and leadership levels.

Executive & Leadership Communications

  • Partner with executives and senior leaders to develop key organizational communications, including leadership announcements, company updates, strategic communications, presentations, talking points, messaging frameworks, and executive communications.
  • Support the CEO, CFO, Directors, and Senior Leadership Team with communication planning and message development.
  • Create communication toolkits, presentation materials, messaging resources, templates, and coaching support that help leaders communicate effectively while reflecting EEI's culture, values, and strategic direction.

Organizational Change Communications

  • Partner with leadership and project teams to develop communication plans for organizational changes, new initiatives, system implementations, policy updates, and process improvements.
  • Develop change management communication strategies that increase understanding, adoption, and organizational readiness.
  • Create stakeholder communication plans, rollout strategies, communication roadmaps, and proactive communication plans that support organizational transformations, growth initiatives, and timely, transparent, consistent communication during periods of change.

Internal Communication Channels

  • Manage and continuously improve EEI's internal communication platforms and channels.
  • Develop content for intranet platforms, collaboration tools, team member updates, leadership communications, newsletters, videos, presentations, and internal campaigns.
  • Maintain editorial calendars and communication schedules; coordinate enterprise-wide communication initiatives and announcements; evaluate communication tools and technologies; and establish communication standards, governance, and best practices.

Strategic Content & Storytelling

  • Develop communication campaigns that support organizational goals and strategic priorities.
  • Highlight team member achievements, project successes, innovation, community involvement, and company milestones.
  • Partner with People Services and Marketing to align internal and external messaging while supporting communication efforts related to employee ownership, professional development, organizational growth, company initiatives, and strategic storytelling that brings EEI's mission, vision, values, and culture to life.

Measurement, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish communication KPIs and reporting metrics; monitor communication effectiveness, engagement, reach, and adoption; and conduct communication audits and effectiveness assessments.
  • Analyze survey results, communication metrics, team member feedback, and effectiveness reports to identify improvement opportunities and develop recommendations that strengthen organizational communication and alignment.

  • Contribute wherever needed to support the broader success of the People Services team and EEI.

Qualifications:

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, Human Resources, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, executive communications, change management communications, public relations, or related field.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience developing communication strategies, communication plans, and executive messaging.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Experience with communication platforms, intranet systems, collaboration tools, and content management systems.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience supporting distributed or remote workforces preferred.
  • Experience with organizational change management initiatives preferred.
  • Change Management certification (Prosci or similar) preferred.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
