Job Description

You’ll partner with key business areas to plan, create and deliver content that brings our corporate vision to life and strengthens pride and trust among colleagues.

In this role, you’ll develop creative communication strategies, manage projects, and produce high‑quality content for multiple channels. Your strong understanding of our business and the challenges faced by teams across the airport will enable you to offer expert guidance, solve communication challenges, and drive colleague engagement.

You’ll bring fresh ideas, benchmark best practice, and champion effective internal communications that support our ambition “to be an extraordinary airport, fit for the future.” The role also includes participation in Bronze Comms during crises, including out‑of‑hours on‑call duties.

  • Embed Heathrow’s corporate strategy through clear, consistent daily communications.
  • Partner with the Senior Editorial Manager to develop effective communication strategies and innovative solutions to business challenges.
  • Champion the value of Internal Communications across the organisation, demonstrating its impact and contribution.
  • Work closely with teams in your remit to ensure ownership, alignment and delivery of the corporate narrative and business priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create and implement communications plans that address their needs and challenges.
  • Contribute to a “one communication team” approach, supporting different functional teams as required, including Here 2 Help/Ready 2 Help shifts, Comms Cuts roster and potential IRT (crisis communications) duties.
  • End-to-end experience delivering programme/project communications
  • Experience delivering change communications
  • Proven mid‑level internal communications and engagement experience, ideally within a similarly demanding or complex organisation.
  • Confident multi‑channel communicator who embraces change, identifies improvements, and supports others through it.
  • Able to self‑manage in a fast‑paced, sometimes ambiguous environment, working to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and advisory skills, with experience using comms and engagement metrics, challenging thinking, and acting as a trusted communications partner.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Experience of confidently managing upwards and working with more senior stakeholders

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of HeathrowWorking arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
