Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Interim Internal Communications Manager to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on delivery role sitting at the heart of our People Team, responsible for producing high-quality communication that supports Newton’s strategic objectives, organisational change agenda and key business priorities.
This role joins us at a significant moment. Newton is approaching its 25th anniversary, actively growing into the US and Australia, and delivering Future Newton – a wide-reaching transformation programme that is reshaping how we work. You will translate strategy into clear, engaging messaging and ensure effective delivery across multiple channels and geographies.
The Interim Internal Communications Manager will report into the Head of Internal Communications and work closely with our Communications Executive. This role sits within the wider People Team, so your day to day working relationships with our Engagement Manager, our Business Partners and our Event Team will be strong. We’re all dedicated to creating a fantastic working environment for our people.
Communication delivery and planning
- Develop and deliver communication plans not just for our company wide Future Newton portfolio, but also to support internal project teams deliver organisational change activities across the business.
- Play an active role in how we make the most of our 25th anniversary year, bringing our story to life in creative and impactful ways
- Act as a key part of the team designing and implementing our global strategy events so that our people are excited about our future and connected to the part they will play
- Produce clear, engaging content across formats – leader and executive communications, news stories and intranet content, FAQs, video scripts / key messages, story boards, engaging and interactive presentations – all designed to deliver maximum reach and engagement across our channels. We have a busy event agenda so being confident with creating comms in this environment is essential
- Work in partnership with the team to ensure that we are proactively deconflicting messaging while also optimising our content across a complex and busy agenda
- Support the team to strategically review and reshape our channel mix so that it is fit for purpose for a rapidly growing, global business
- Support the delivery of global communications, ensuring messaging is relevant and consistent across UK, US, and Australian audiences.
Stakeholder partnership
- Partner with senior stakeholders to shape messaging and engagement approaches, providing credible advice on best practice.
- Work closely with the People Team, Future Newton programme leads, and business leaders to ensure communications support the change engagement agenda.
- Work in partnership with our Engagement Manager so that we are hard-wiring engagement into everything we do so that it is impactful and inclusive
- In partnership with our Engagement Manager and Events Teams, provide input into the ongoing development of our networks and communities and how this flows into an inclusive calendar of engagement activities
- Actively support and help to develop our brilliant Communications Executive – providing regular feedback, hands-on coaching, and stretch opportunities – so they continue to grow in confidence and capability throughout your time with us.
Change communications
- Apply change communications principles to identify people impact so that we plan and implement our communication activity effectively
- Provide practical communication support to project teams navigating complex or fast-moving change.
Measurement and continuous improvement
- Working with our Communications Executive and our existing dashboards and approaches, build evaluation into every project as standard, using data and insight to continuously improve communication approaches.
- Monitor performance and feed learnings into planning, in line with Newton’s evidence-based culture.
Requirements
We’re looking for a clear, pragmatic communicator who thrives on translating complexity into compelling messaging. You’ll be delivery-focused and proactive, comfortable working at pace, and confident partnering with senior leaders. You will bring both strong writing craft and sound judgement to everything you do.
Essential skills and experience
- Proven internal communications experience in a corporate environment - professional services / high growth (or similar) environment would be an advantage.
- Strong track record delivering change communications, ideally in a complex, fast-moving organisation.
- Experience communicating across global or multi-region audiences.
- Excellent written skills across all channels and platforms, including digital and intranet content.
- Confident stakeholder management, including the ability to advise and coach senior leaders.
- Strong channel management expertise; able to match content and channel to audience needs.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Strong IT skills including O365 and SharePoint intranets. A curiosity for the application of AI into internal comms is a must
- Confident with internal communications measurement and analytics; able to define meaningful metrics, build insight into solutions, and adjust plans as circumstances change.
- Can provide examples of coaching and supporting colleagues in their practical IC development, particularly in a live or high-pressure environment.
Desirable
- Internal Communications qualification – IoIC, degree, or qualified by experience.
- Experience working with or scoping briefs for agency suppliers.

We offer a highly competitive salary (£60,000 - £70,000) and our generous benefits package includes Life Assurance, Income Protection, pension contributions and 28 days holiday (not including bank holidays). We also operate a profit share scheme so that our people share in the success of the business. The profit share bonus is based on company performance and typically paid out in March and September.
