Job Description

Company:

Mercer

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Marketing and Communications team at Marsh. This is a Melbourne based role. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Internal Communications Leader, Pacific

We’re seeking a senior, hand-on communications leader to implement an integrated internal communications program across the Pacific. This role focuses on all‑colleague communications, Pacific‑wide events and supporting executive communications. You will lead two direct reports, embed global standards locally, and ensure Pacific priorities are visible, timely and effective.

What you’ll do

  • Implement the Pacific internal communications program, translating agreed business priorities into colleague‑centred programs across AU, NZ, Fiji and PNG.
  • Support senior leaders and executives by advising on timing, tone and colleague impact and providing drafting/scripting support as required.
  • Embed global templates, measurement frameworks and governance and contribute Pacific insight to global working groups and reporting.
  • Manage a small communications team and oversee contractors or agencies when required.
  • Own Pacific colleague channels and editorial rhythms (intranet, newsletters, Viva Engage/Teams, multimedia); produce or supervise executive messages, leader toolkits, FAQs, video and podcast scripts.
  • Design and deliver colleague events, including planning, production, logistics, run‑of‑show, content and rehearsals.
  • Develop leader toolkits and cascade resources to help managers translate executive priorities into team conversations.
  • Define and report on success metrics (engagement, reach, sentiment), use insights to optimise content and channels, and ensure compliance with brand, legal and privacy standards.

What we expect

  • Strong stakeholder management and executive advisory experience, with excellent editorial and content judgment.
  • Experience operating within a global or matrixed environment and implementing global frameworks locally.
  • Proven people leadership while remaining operationally hands‑on.
  • Strong track record in event production and managing high‑production leadership forums.
  • Data‑led approach to measurement and optimisation
  • Calm under pressure with strong problem solving.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to apply business context to colleague communications.

Experience and qualifications

  • ~8+ years’ experience in internal or change communications in large, matrixed organisations. Ideally 5+ years specifically in internal communications roles.
  • Experience supporting senior executives and delivering multi‑country internal communications programs in partnership with a global centre of excellence.
  • Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, PR, marketing or equivalent experience.

Play a pivotal role delivering the colleague experience across the Pacific, working at the intersection of leadership, brand and culture with visible regional impact and opportunities for growth.

Why join our team:

  • Play a key role in shaping the colleague experience across the Pacific.
  • Work at the intersection of leadership, brand, and culture within a diverse and complex regional business.
  • Grow professionally through meaningful work, development opportunities, and supportive leadership.
  • Thrive in a vibrant, inclusive culture where collaboration drives impactful solutions.
  • Benefit from our scale, offering diverse career paths and comprehensive rewards and well-being programs.
