Internal Comms Public Affairs Manager

Position Purpose

The Internal Communications and Public Affairs Manager – Mexico Plus is a local position and will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications and external affairs initiatives across the Mexico Plus Markets in collaboration with different functions. This role aims to enhance the company's reputation, build strong relationships with key internal and external and stakeholders, and support both internal and external business objectives through effective communication and advocacy effors

Main Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Communications

  • Develop and implement comprehensive internal and external communication strategies that align with corporate goals and cluster markets commercial objectives with close collaboration with other functions.
  • Craft clear, compelling, and consistent messages across various channels, including press releases, social media (i.e. Linkedin), internal communications, and executive speeches and communications.

Crisis Communication

  • Prepare and execute crisis communication plans to protect the company's reputation and manage issues proactively.
  • Serve as a spokesperson during crisis situations, providing timely and accurate information to the media and stakeholders.

Corporate Reputation & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support initiatives that strengthen JTI's corporate reputation among employees, media, industry associations, community partners and other external stakeholders.
  • Monitor reputational trends and recommend proactive communication activities to support business objectives.

Sustainability

  • Collaborate with internal (P&C and EHS) and external stakeholders to drive sustainability projects, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote the company's sustainability initiatives and achievements.
  • Monitor sustainability trends and provide recommendations to market management to enhance the company's sustainability efforts.

Internal Communication and Event Management

  • Foster a positive organizational culture by implementing effective internal communication strategies in coordination with other cluster and local functions (P&C, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Legal..etc.).
  • Ensure that employees are informed about company updates, strategic initiatives, and key developments.
  • Plan and execute events, such as: internal stakeholder visits, Townhalls, Employees engagement activities and internal company celebrations/events to support internal communications objectives and ensure they communicate key messages.

Communications Budget & Vendor Management

  • Manage the Mexico+ Communications, Community Investment and Sustainability budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation, financial compliance, and delivery against agreed objectives.
  • Oversee communication agencies, event providers, consultants and external vendors, including contract management, purchase order oversight, performance evaluation and cost control.

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in Journalism or Political Science, combined with a strong understanding of the political and regulatory landscape across the cluster markets, is considered a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience developing and executing strategic communications and external affairs plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively with cluster functions, regional teams, and headquarters.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences in both languages.
