Standard Bank’s Learnership Programmes are designed to address youth unemployment in South Africa by providing young people with structured, practical work experience alongside formal training, while also building a strong and sustainable talent pipeline of future-ready employees aligned to the bank’s values and business needs.

As part of this development pathway, the Occupational Certificate: Internal Auditor qualification serves as the foundational entry-level certification for aspiring internal auditors, combining focused training modules with structured workplace experience to equip candidates with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to start or enhance their careers in internal auditing.

By the end of the programme, you will have gained exposure to and developed skills in:

  • Planning under supervision, single audit steps to test aspects of the areas being audited
  • Analysing and evaluating the operations in all departments according to the audit subject for conformance to good business practice
  • Making recommendations where control deficiencies, system effectiveness, profit improvement or cost reduction opportunities are noted to improve any out of line situations found during audits and investigations
  • Preparing and saving working papers and supporting documents to secure evidence supporting the findings reported
  • Ensuring adherence to all group standards / policies.
  • Prioritise and planning own workload and time management

Qualifications

An undergraduate qualification in one of the following (or a related discipline):

  • Information Technology or Computer Science
  • Business Management Sciences
  • Auditing | Finance | Economics
  • Engineering
  • ESG and Environmental Studies
  • Insurance and Risk Management
  • Risk and Compliance Management

Additional Information

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be under 30 years of age.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
  • Not be registered on any other learnership or internship programme
  • Not be studying at any other institution
