Join us at a pivotal moment: Opella’s Internal Audit function is in its first year of construction, offering a unique opportunity to shape its future. We are building a modern, digitally driven, risk-focused department from the ground up—defining methodology, implementing tools, and establishing best practices aligned with global standards. This is not a maintenance role; it’s a chance to influence strategy, drive innovation, and leave a lasting impact on how assurance and advisory services support business. If you thrive in dynamic environments and want to be part of creating something meaningful, we want to hear from you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Opella Internal Audit Department reports administratively to the CEO of Opella and functionally to the Audit & Risk Committee of the Board.
Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, you will play a critical role in delivering independent, risk-based assurance and advisory services with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and healthcare operations. You will bring deep industry knowledge to audits in areas such as pharmacovigilance, manufacturing quality, data privacy, and ethics, ensuring that Opella meets its obligations in a highly regulated environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and execute audits with a primary focus on regulatory compliance, healthcare operations, and quality systems (GxP, GMP, PV, GDPR).

  • Perform risk assessments and contribute to the annual audit plan, ensuring coverage of high-risk areas.

  • Lead thematic audits and advisory engagements related to compliance, ethics, and patient safety.

  • Collaborate with co-sourcing providers for specialized audits, ensuring quality and adherence to Opella methodology and IIA standards.

  • Prepare clear, concise audit reports with actionable recommendations for management and the Audit & Risk Committee.

  • Monitor remediation of findings and provide guidance to ensure timely and effective implementation.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for regulatory topics, supporting the Head of Internal Audit and other team members.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of audit processes and methodologies, leveraging your sector expertise.

EXPERIENCE AND PERFORMANCE

  • Background: Master’s in business, Accounting, Finance, Biology or Engineering. 10+ years of audit or compliance experience in the healthcare/pharma sector, with strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (GxP, GMP, PV, GDPR).

  • Industry expertise: Proven experience in auditing or managing compliance in manufacturing, pharmacovigilance, or quality systems.

  • Certifications: CIA, CISA, or healthcare compliance certifications preferred.

  • Digital skills: Demonstrated experience with emerging technologies, including practical understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI, and modern data analytics tools. Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets to generate meaningful risk insights.

  • Stakeholder management: Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders in a matrix organization.

  • Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages (e.g., French,) are a plus.

PERSONALITY & BEHAVIORS

  • Results-driven: Committed to delivering high-quality audits in a fast-paced, transformational environment.

  • Collaborative influencer: Ability to work across functions and geographies, building trust and credibility.

  • Ethics and integrity: Upholds the highest ethical standards and serves as a role model for compliance and fairness.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to pivot priorities as risks evolve.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel internationally (30–40%).

Why us?
