Overall governance
• Approve/Veto revision of work processes and procedures to ensure optimization of business operations.
• Provide recommendations to the oversight and relevant parties regarding internal audit and risk management work, to ensure resolution of all key issues and to ensure compliance with relevant laws, rules, regulations and good governance practices.
• Cultivate capabilities & empower teams and the next generation of leaders through provision of guidance and utilization of coaching techniques to engender a continuous improvement environment, and to ensure capabilities readiness.
Function-related accountabilities?
1. Audit preparation and planning
• Determine risk profile, formulate internal audit methodologies, and review audit performance to ensure alignment with policies, good governance, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the development of periodic internal audit plan, as well as deployment of audit technology to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and standardization of audit processes.
• Lead internal audit operations enhancement on researching new audit standards, regulatory environment, organization risks, and needs of key stakeholders to keep abreast of changing rules and environment and ensure the company’s practices are in compliance with updated changes.
2. Investigation and findings analysis
• Drive audit committee initiatives that reinforce internal control to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of internal audits.
• Lead internal audit operations and investigation activities, including regular audits and special investigations per requests, as well as audit performance reviews to ensure problematic issues are resolved successfully.
• Issue internal audit report to management and executive committee of emerging risks and/or exposures that should be considered, and act as an expert regarding risk management and internal control best practices in the industry.
• Proactively inform senior management of significant risks or exposures related to internal controls, compliance, and/ or governance requiring prompt attention to ensure courses of action are provided in a timely manner.
• Respond to management, executive committee, and external auditor requests, and decide on the appropriate course of action regarding professional standard quality, cost, and time.
• Develop, propose, obtain approval, monitor, and optimize utilization of resources and budget against company’s budget, to ensure optimization and the right prioritization of resources and budget.
• Be the key person to coordinate the activities of external auditors or all other related outside authorities (if necessary).
• Stay connected with other audit services leaders to research and implement new audit methodologies and techniques to drive audit innovation, efficiencies and value-add results.
