Aurora Cooperative is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Internal Audit Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of our internal controls, compliance, risk management, and financial reconciliations. This role is essential in safeguarding the organization’s assets, reputation, and financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Management:
Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across various departments and operations.
Develop and implement risk management strategies and policies.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management activities.
Internal Controls:
Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, including financial, operational, and compliance controls.
Design and implement improvements to strengthen internal controls.
Conduct internal control assessments and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
Monitor compliance with established internal controls and policies.
Reconciliations:
Perform and oversee regular reconciliations across key financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Maintain documentation and support for all reconciling items and adjustments.
Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Conduct compliance audits and reviews to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
Stay current with changes in regulatory requirements and advise management accordingly.
Other Duties as Assigned:
Handle any additional tasks or responsibilities assigned by management to support the overall objectives of the company.
Qualifications:
Proficient in excel.
3-5 years of experience in accounting or related fields.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
High level of integrity and ethics.
