The Summer Research Intern will gain hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques with a focus on Sanger sequencing. The intern will be trained to perform key laboratory procedures, including PCR amplification, agarose gel electrophoresis, and sample preparation for sequencing. Responsibilities include analyzing sequencing data, identifying genetic mutations, and troubleshooting experimental challenges.
In addition, the intern will support ongoing research by assisting laboratory members with experiments, maintaining accurate and detailed lab notebooks, and summarizing project findings. Through this experience, the intern will develop a foundational understanding of sequencing workflows and data interpretation in a research setting.
Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
