The MWRA is seeking an engineering intern to help execute a $2.1B, 15-mile, deep rock tunnel program. This isn't just a summer job; it's a front-row seat to the final design and construction kickoff of one of the largest water infrastructure improvements in Massachusetts. Salary:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze critical path schedules to track progress against major design milestones and upcoming construction procurement phases.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and cost calculations to verify engineer's estimates for multi-million dollar contract packages.
  • Leverage industry-standard tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or Bluebeam) to assist in the management of technical submittals ensuring alignment with design requirements
  • Provide engineering support to cross-functional teams in civil, structural, and environmental engineering
  • Assist in the collection and preparation data for evaluation
  • Perform engineering analysis using computer-assisted engineering
  • Participate in field inspections
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and studies
  • Perform related duties as required

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a program with a focus in Program and Construction Management, civil, geotechnical, or tunnel engineering (or related field). Applicants who have at least completed their junior year are preferred.
  • Ability to work in a professional business office setting
  • Ability to learn and use engineering software
  • Strong technical writing and communications skills
  • The ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, ArcGIS and AutoCAD is preferred
  • Internship duration: May - September
