The Trauma Services Intern will support the trauma program by assisting with various administrative, educational, and quality improvement activities. This internship provides an opportunity to gain insight into trauma systems, performance improvement processes, injury prevention initiatives, and healthcare operations in a hospital setting.
Assist with data entry, chart review, and documentation audits
Support trauma performance improvement initiatives by gathering and organizing case data
Help prepare educational materials for staff training or community outreach
Attend trauma meetings, drills, and educational sessions as appropriate
Assist in organizing injury prevention events or campaigns
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
Perform other duties as assigned by the trauma team
Maintains accountability for completing support tasks as directed.
Maintains clear and appropriate documentation of actions taken.
May analyzes department processes and other Corewell Health systems encountered and makes recommendations improvements, as appropriate. Participates in quality monitoring activities/process improvement activities.
Communicates, collaborates, and acts as a team player with others in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
Currently enrolled in a university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in the area of accountability. May also be a recent graduate from an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program.
Interest in trauma, emergency medicine, public health, general medicine, or hospital administration
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
