The Engineering Intern will be part of Lumentum’s internship program designed to provide meaningful hands-on experience, professional exposure, and career development Interns will support engineering teams on real projects, engage with cross-functional stakeholders, and gain insight into global high-tech operations and manufacturing practices.
The program welcomes students currently pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees and aims to build skills through structured work assignments, mentorship, and learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will be expected to:
Support engineering activities and project tasks under guidance
Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting
Participate in process improvement, workflows, and standard work updates
Contribute to operational excellence initiatives and engineering problem solving
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (e.g., Production, Quality, EHS)
Prepare professional documentation and presentations
Follow company safety, quality, and standard procedure
Note: Responsibilities may vary based on the assigned engineering area (e.g., process, automation, photonics, industrial, electrical, software, or systems).
Who We’re Looking For
Education:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in Engineering or related disciplines (e.g., Photonics , Electronics , Telecom , Mechatronics ,Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Physics , Science, EHS, etc.)
Open to final-year students as well as postgraduate candidates
Core Competencies:
Strong willingness to learn and contribute
Basic understanding of engineering or technical concepts
Good written and verbal communication skills
Teamwork and professional attitude
Preferred:
Problem-solving mindset and analytical ability
Interest in manufacturing and high-tech environments
Ability to organize and present data effectively
