Intern Substation/Relay Engineer

Work Location Butte, MT

Pay range $20.00 per hour

Employment Status: Temporary (May - August full-time, 40 hours per week)

(Potential--September - December part-time, 20 hours per week)

About this position:

The intern will collaborate with engineers and supervisors within the Substation department. NWE is in the process of completing the Facilities Rating requirement for the Electric Transmission system. FAC 008 data gathering and validation will be the primary responsibility of the intern. Drawing review to identify equipment ratings and Cascade data involvement will also be assigned to the intern. Other responsibilities could also include drawing peer reviews for staff engineers

  • Learn about transmission, substation and systems and projects
  • Data gathering and validation of information for the Substation Department
  • Drawings review to identify equipment ratings and Cascade data
  • Assisting with peer reviews for staff engineer
  • Be introduced to the field of protective relaying and protection philosophies
  • Learn software packages such as Aspen One-Liner and SEL ACSelerator
  • Develop knowledge about the electric transmission system and how it works
  • Participate in organizational work meetings
