Intern, Research & Development, Agile PLM

The Intern, Research & Development supports the engineering team by managing technical documentation, structuring Bills of Materials (BOMs), and creating mechanical drawings for our advanced electro-mechanical systems. As part of a dynamic engineering environment, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure data integrity within our Agile PLM system and draft components using SolidWorks. This role is ideal for a student with a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for learning about next-generation technology.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and upload technical documentation, mechanical drawings, and schematics into the Agile PLM system.
• Create and maintain multidisciplinary Engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support manufacturing.
• Draft and modify mechanical drawings and basic 3D models using SolidWorks under engineering guidance.
• Execute document routing and revision control for engineering change orders (ECOs).
• Collaborate with engineers and integrators to verify documentation prior to system release.
• Audit existing Agile documentation and BOM structures to correct data discrepancies.

Education/Experience & Skills

• Enrolled in a degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Available to work part-time, 2 to 3 days per week.
• Proficient in SolidWorks for creating detailed mechanical drawings.
• Capable of reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and BOM structures.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and data entry skills for absolute technical accuracy.
• Effective communicator within multidisciplinary and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Adaptability and willingness to thrive in a dynamic environment.
• Advantage - Familiar with PLM systems (Oracle Agile preferred) and document control processes.

Working Conditions:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
• Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
• Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
