Manager Title:
Director, TechnologyThe QA Intern will support the Android and Fire TV engineering team by focusing on software testing and test automation for the PBS KIDS and PBS General Audience streaming apps. This role centers on validating app quality, improving test coverage, and contributing to automated testing efforts across multiple Android-based platforms.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Execute and maintain manual test cases across Android TV, Fire TV, and tablet devices
Validate video playback, streaming performance, and edge cases
Identify, document, and track defects in JIRA and GitHub.
Develop and improve automated test coverage
Assist in integrating automated tests into CI workflows (GitHub Actions, Firebase)
Participate in regression testing and release validation
Requirements for success:
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related field
0–2 years of experience in software testing or development
Strong attention to detail and structured thinking
Interest in software quality, automation, and CI/CD
Basic programming knowledge (Java/Kotlin or similar language preferred)
Familiarity with Git or GitHub is a plus
Comfortable working across multiple Android devices and environments
Skills the Intern may gain:
Real-world experience in manual and automated testing
Exposure to Android UI and instrumentation testing frameworks
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Firebase
Experience validating video streaming workflows across device types
Improved debugging and defect tracking skills
Practical exposure to Java/Kotlin-based Android application

Time Commitment: June 1, 2026 – August 21, 2026
Compensation: Undergraduate students receive $15/hour, graduate students receive $17/hour
