Job Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

The Intern, Program Lead (MPI) supports the successful execution and continuous improvement of program operations within a dynamic manufacturing or shipbuilding environment. In this role, you will track and analyze program performance, producing regular reports that measure progress against established goals and identify opportunities for improvement. Working closely with cross-functional planning teams, you will help drive planning commitments, contribute to the implementation of best practices and technologies, and support data-driven decision-making for senior management.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you’ll do

  • Produce weekly and monthly program reports that measure program performance against established goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze program progress
  • Track and drive planning commitments identified during internal/external program forums.
  • Collaborate with the broader planning functions to implement best practices and technologies that improve program execution and functional capability.
  • Develop summary reports and proposals for key program performance metrics. Distribute summary reports to senior management, identify variances from plan, and assist in developing and monitoring corrective actions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring

  • Studying towards a degree in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, or a related field) or Business Administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to basic level data analitic.
  • Experience with Planning software is considered an asset.
  • Basic working knowledge of CAD software.
  • Previous experience or coursework related to manufacturing, shipbuilding, or industrial engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Project management practices.

  • Knowledge of production planning and control concepts.

  • Interest in shipbuilding or manufacturing industries.

  • Understanding of change managements principles.

  • Ability to work well independently with limited direction and in a team environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Effective time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking to improve production processes.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $28.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday, December 18th, 2026 (4-Months).
