**This is a temporary Internship position open to those enrolled in a secondary education program.**
About the Role:
As an Intern in Critical Facilities, you will support the team responsible for maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of mission-critical infrastructure. This includes assisting with the monitoring, inspection, and documentation of systems such as power, cooling, backup generators, UPS equipment, and environmental controls. You will gain hands-on exposure to facility operations, preventive maintenance practices, and incident response procedures that help ensure continuous uptime for essential operations. This internship is a great opportunity for someone interested in engineering, facilities management, or data center operations and looking to build practical experience in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment.
What You Will Do:
• Assist with organizing facility documentation, equipment records, and project files.
• Conduct facility walkthroughs with team members to observe critical systems such as power, cooling, and backup equipment.
• Help update spreadsheets, inventories, and track logs related to facility assets and projects.
• Support team meetings by taking notes, preparing materials, and documenting action items.
• Assist with basic data entry and reporting tasks for facility operations and projects.
• Learn about workplace safety practices and participate in facility safety observations.
• Observe vendor and contractor activities to gain an understanding of facility maintenance and construction processes.
• Assist with labeling, organizing, and maintaining equipment storage areas and workspaces.
• Support project teams by gathering information, preparing presentations, and researching industry topics.
• Participate in educational sessions covering telecommunications infrastructure, data center operations, and critical facility systems.
• Help collect and organize operational data for review by facility managers and engineers.
• Gain exposure to career opportunities in telecommunications, engineering, facilities management, and operations.
• Collaborate with team members on special projects designed to improve facility organization, documentation, or operational efficiency.
• Perform other administrative and learning-focused duties as assigned.
Do You Have:
• A strong interest in critical facilities, engineering, building systems, or data center operations.
• Current enrollment in a technical, engineering, facilities management, or related degree program.
• Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, or HVAC systems.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Good problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software for documentation and reporting.
• Willingness to learn about preventive maintenance, system monitoring, and incident response processes.
