Intern, meoSphere System Modeling
Are you looking for a 6‑month internship? This is an opportunity to be a part of the Modeling and Simulation team in an innovative satellite organization. As the space industry evolves, our need for sophisticated tools and simulations does as well. Today’s constellations need to incorporate 5G NTN architecture.
Based in Betzdorf, Luxembourg, you will be developing a cutting-edge simulator tool, focused on 5G NTN and Optical Inter-Satellite Links, to provide insights into the performance of our satellite constellations. You will collaborate with experts from various fields, including telecommunications, software engineering, and aerospace, to develop and utilize the simulator tool. Your work will contribute to concrete projects such as mesosphere, Pathfinder and IRIS2.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
Collaborate with the team on the design, development, and implementation of a constellation simulator, primarily using Rust, with selected components in Python. Integrate and model 5G NR NTN architecture and concepts within the simulator to enable accurate and standards‑aligned simulations. Use the simulator to analyze constellation performance (e.g., coverage, latency, link behavior) and communicate insights and findings to the team. Iteratively enhance and refine the simulator based on technical feedback, validation results, and real‑world or standards‑driven scenarios
COMPETENCIES
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Basic understanding or exposure to 3GPP 5G NR concepts, with particular interest in NTN architecture (e.g., UE, gNB, core network interactions, service‑based architecture).
In addition, it would be nice if you had:
