The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) is a fundamental concept in the digitalization of industrial systems, aligning with the vision of Industry 4.0. It represents a standardized digital twin for physical assets, allowing a seamless interface between physical systems and the digital world. The AAS encapsulates all relevant information about an asset, including its state, behavior, and lifecycle data, creating an interoperable and machine-readable profile of the asset. Implementing the AAS concept in a synthetic molecules production facility enables improved data integration, analytics, and automation across processes. This digital twin-like structure enhances operational transparency, supports predictive maintenance, and improves production efficiency by ensuring real-time access to asset information across various systems and stakeholders. The AAS also fosters interoperability, ensuring that different components, equipment, and IT systems can easily exchange and process asset-related data.
