Job Description

Intern – Physical Decarbonisation, Carbon Management Division

The intern will support the Physical Decarbonisation team in advancing initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while maximising hydrocarbon value across upstream operations. This includes exposure to key decarbonisation levers such as energy efficiency, flaring and venting reduction, methane management, and low-carbon product strategies aligned with PETRONAS’ net zero aspirations.

The intern will assist in data analysis, preparation of technical and commercial evaluations, and development of presentation materials to support ongoing studies, business cases, and management reporting. In addition, the role provides opportunities to contribute to carbon accounting, emissions tracking, and benchmarking activities, in line with established frameworks and standards such as lifecycle assessment and GHG reporting.

Through close collaboration with cross-functional teams, the intern will gain practical insights into upstream decarbonisation strategies, including initiatives to reduce emissions from physical sources and optimise asset performance. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience in energy transition, equipping the intern with foundational knowledge and exposure to real-world projects supporting PETRONAS’ journey towards Net Zero Carbon Emissions.
