Job Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

The Intern. Engineering Quality reports directly to the Manager, Engineering Quality. The Manager, Engineering Quality may delegate this reporting function as deemed necessary. The role will initially focus on supporting the EBOM Lead with day-to-day operational tasks and will progressively expand to include more advanced responsibilities. These include executing CAD import jobs, drafting work instructions as well as conducting data validation and generating reports. This position offers comprehensive exposure to the EBOM function within the division, providing valuable experience across one of the critical aspects of engineering quality processes. The intern will receive guidance on the project’s essentials and access to necessary resources to successfully complete the task.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you’ll do

  • Perform EBOM governance activities throughout the Project Design lifecycle, including Pre-Rev A, Rev A (EQAA), Rev 0 (EBOM), and Post-Drawing (EQEB).
  • Conduct EBOM readiness and quality assessments at defined engineering and quality assurance gates.
  • Execute CAD imports and perform EBOM data extraction, validation, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Classify and document EBOM defects in accordance with established standards, procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with Functional Design, Detail Design, Engineering Quality, and other project stakeholders to resolve EBOM-related issues.
  • Monitor EBOM metrics and KPIs, identify emerging issues, and support corrective actions where required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance EBOM processes, classifications, data quality, and reporting.

What you’ll bring

  • Currently enrolled in a 2 or 3 year undergraduate program in Engineering.
  • Basic understanding of Engineering fundamentals, product hierarchy and Bill of Material.
  • Basic understanding of CAD and PLM tools.
  • Outstanding analytical skills to capture, analyze and process large amounts of data.
  • Innovative thinking skills, with the resourcefulness to get to the source of truth.
  • Outstanding integrity and honesty in all situations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
  • Experience and strong comfort with Microsoft Excel.
  • Outstanding problem solving and research skills.
  • Strong academic results.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $28.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday, December 18th, 2026 (4-Months).
