Job Description

We don’t just talk, we do. Lead the change with us.

At the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, we work with political leaders around the world to drive change. We help governments turn bold ideas into reality so they can deliver for their people. We do it by advising on strategy, policy and delivery, unlocking the power of technology across all three. And by sharing what we learn on the ground, so everyone can benefit. We do it to build more open, inclusive and prosperous countries for people everywhere.

We are a global team of over 800 changemakers, operating in more than 40 countries, across five continents. We are political strategists, policy experts, delivery practitioners, technology specialists and more. We speak more than 45 languages. We are working on over 100 projects, tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges. We’re all here at TBI to make a difference.

In a world of ever more complex challenges, we believe diversity of background and perspective is a strength. We pride ourselves on a culture that values and nurtures difference. We are dedicated to unlocking potential, not only for the countries we work in but also for each of our team members. No matter where you’re from or who you are, if you’re passionate about the transformative power of progressive politics, we invite you to build a better future with us.

The Associate Intern will support the Americas team in delivering high-quality advisory work across Latin America and the Caribbean. The role provides exposure to policy research, government advisory, project management, and business development activities, including supporting country teams, conducting analysis, preparing written materials, and contributing to regional growth efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with governments and senior leaders while developing professional skills in a fast-paced, international environment.

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct high-quality research and analysis to support advisory work with governments across the Americas.
  • Supporting scoping teams as they assess potential opportunities for TBI to engage with new governments and senior leaders in the region and produce research and analysis to inform regional strategy, growth, and expansion efforts.
  • Develop written outputs, including briefing notes, memos, presentations, and background research for internal and external use.
  • Support project teams with planning, coordination, and tracking activities and deliverables, developing tools and systems to support effective program management and delivery (e.g. dashboards, trackers, frameworks).
  • Contribute to policy research across priority thematic areas relevant to the Americas region.
  • Engage with colleagues across TBI’s global network, collaborating across teams and disciplines.
  • Support meetings, workshops, events, and roundtables with government counterparts and partners. Other duties as assigned.
  • To be considered for this internship, applicants must be currently enrolled in a Master's degree programme (or equivalent graduate-level studies) and be based in the Washington, DC area. Candidates must have existing authorization to work in the United States, as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship or work permit support for this role.
