Job Posting Title

Engineering Intern - Aerothermal Systems

Justification

Internship

Job Description

Job Title: Engineering Intern, Aerothermal Fluid Modelling & Simulation

At Collins Aerospace, you will join a team that turns the physics of heat and fluid flow into the systems that keep aircraft safe, efficient and comfortable. As an Engineering Intern in the Global Systems Team (Aerothermal, Power & Controls), Bangalore, you will work alongside experienced engineers to model and simulate aerospace thermal and fluid systems from first principles. You will learn the tools, methods and engineering judgement that support mission-critical design. We value technical rigour, curiosity and a drive to understand systems deeply before building them.

What You Will Do

Support the development and refinement of physics-based models of aerospace thermal and fluid systems, including air management, environmental control and thermal management

Build component and system-level 1D models (heat exchangers, valves, ducts, compressors) using Modelica-based tools (Dymola) and MATLAB/Simulink

Apply fundamentals of heat transfer, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to understand component and system behaviour

Run steady-state and transient simulations and compare results with test data and analytical benchmarks

Automate small simulation and post-processing tasks using Python or MATLAB scripts

Document modelling assumptions, methods and results clearly for technical review

What You Will Learn:

Physics-based system modelling for aerospace thermal-fluid applications

Hands-on work with Modelica/Dymola and MATLAB-based toolchains

Single-phase and two-phase thermal-fluid simulation methods, correlations and numerical solver behaviour

Model verification and validation practices followed in aerospace engineering

Working with engineering teams across global sites

Qualification You Must Have:

Pursuing or recently completed Master's degree (M.Tech / M.E. / M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering or a related field such as Aerospace Engineering or Thermal Sciences

Strong foundation in heat transfer, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics

Familiarity with at least one simulation or programming environment (Modelica, MATLAB, Python or equivalent) is preferable

Experience

NA - Student/Fresher

Internship Duration:

6 months, starting from Jan 2027
